A Faith that is Unwavering

Key Verse:
“If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.” – Daniel 3:17-18 (NKJV)

In the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we see a powerful example of unwavering faith. When they were threatened with being thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to worship the king’s idol, they boldly declared that God was able to deliver them. This was a matter settled in their hearts. They trusted in God’s ability to save, but they also stated something profound: “But if not”-if God chose not to deliver them for any reason-they would still not bow to the king’s idol.

This moment was a turning point. The three friends had already determined in their hearts that their commitment to God was not based on what He did for them but on their devotion to His will. They were sold out to God, no matter the cost. And what happened next? God Himself appeared to deliver them, not just through an angel, but in person.

This story teaches us that we move God when we make our commitment to Him unconditional, even in the face of trials. When you let both man, the devil, and God Himself know that you are completely sold out to His will, regardless of your circumstances, you will move the heart of God.

Sadly, today many Christians have built a “God is good” doctrine that is based only on what God does for them. This is a weak form of Christianity, where the foundation of faith is built on receiving from God, rather than trusting in His will, His timing, and His goodness-regardless of whether we get what we ask for.

You must not allow the devil to paralyze your walk with God by the fear of unanswered prayers. Let the devil know that you will serve God regardless-whether or not He answers your prayers in the way you desire. Whether or not you receive that baby, that job, or that breakthrough you’ve been praying for, your commitment to God should remain unwavering.

You must be convinced that if God hasn’t yet provided what you’re asking for, He has something better in store-a greater plan that exceeds anything you could ever ask, think, or imagine. The moment your walk with God becomes conditional on what He does or doesn’t do for you, you risk losing sight of the true essence of faith.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for the example of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. I pray that I will have the same unwavering faith, trusting in your goodness, no matter the outcome. Help me to serve you faithfully, regardless of the answers to my prayers. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
