All Things Were Made Through Him

Through Him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made

One day I was examining a tree. I looked at it and began to imagine how many possibilities come from this single tree. The tree produces fruits that both humans and animals eat. It produces leaves that are also beneficial to humans and animals. Let’s not even attempt to explore the possibilities that humans have created out of leaves or different parts of the tree like the wood. Imagine the possibilities from just one tree. Now we can begin to pick one thing after the other and examine their possibilities continuously. It’s going to be endless. I mean, you and I make use of many things daily that are produced from the tree. But the question that bothers some is, “Where does everything come from?” I mean, where does that tree come from, where does water come from, where does the whole universe come from, and where do humans come from?

Apostle John, the writer of the Book of John, through this book, attempted to examine a Personality that He calls, “The Word.” And in verse 3 of chapter 1, he says, “Through Him (The Word), all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” I like the way the NLT puts it, “He created everything there is. Nothing exists that He didn’t make.”

Everything or all things means everything that exists. So, take a look around you (don’t ignore yourself). The conclusion here is that everything you can see, and can’t see, has one source, “The Word.” So, what is the implication of everything having one source?

First, it shows us that everything existed by the will of the Creator. Think for instance, if you own a company that makes certain products. As you roll out each product, you have an end goal you are trying to achieve. The producers determine to whom the product is sold, where it is sold, and the price at which it is sold. All are determined by the Creator of the product.

Someone said to me one day, that people say they want to accept God as Creator and accept His will for their lives, but one of the things they struggle with is accepting that He created them to be in the country that they are, in the community that they are, in the family that they are, surrounded by the people they are with. It’s all part of the creation. And until we accept how God has made us, we will be unable to do what God has made us to do. So, think within yourself, God made me, but have I truly accepted how He made me? Don’t you complain each day wishing that God had created different circumstances for you? Today, we say that you are created by the Will of God, and everything is intentional.
