“One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God”
Luke 6:12
“If [Jesus] felt that He had to pray, how much more do we need to pray” –Billy Graham
There are two things a believer can never survive without: prayer and the Word of God. We speak to God through prayer, and God speaks to us through his Word.
It is impossible to build an effective Christian walk without prayer. Even Jesus, the Son of God, recognized the necessity of spending extended periods in prayer. His actions teach us that prayer is not just a formality but a vital connection with the Father. When faced with important decisions, challenges, or significant moments, we can follow Jesus’ example by committing our concerns to God in prayer.
Before selecting the twelve apostles who would play a crucial role in His ministry, Jesus sought God’s guidance through prayer. In our own lives, we encounter decisions, both big and small, that require divine wisdom. Through consistent prayer, we open ourselves to receive God’s guidance, allowing Him to lead us on the paths He has prepared for us.
Spending an entire night in prayer signifies the depth of Jesus’ communion with the Father. Prayer was not just a ritual for Him; it was a source of strength, sustenance, and divine connection. In our moments of weariness, uncertainty, or difficulty, we can find strength in prayer. It is a place where burdens are lifted, and we are refreshed in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
Prayer is not something you do when you have free time. To build an effective prayer life, you must first determine its place in your routine and be brutally committed to it. Everything else in your life must respect the sacredness and sanctity of that prayer time. It’s time to start praying.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Jesus, who, though fully divine, sought Your guidance through prayer. Teach me to commit all things to You in prayer, finding strength, wisdom, and direction in Your presence. May my prayer life deepen, and may I experience the transformative power of communing with You. In Jesus’ name
