My little son is now four years old but over the weekend as I look at his old pictures, I remember his toddler days and they were quite instrumental in helping me understand some principles of God’s fatherhood better. The young boy so innocent believes that some people somehow on this side of the world care about him. He doesn’t even know who we are yet and why we should care but he knows that whenever anything is wrong, all he has to do is cry and before you know it help is on the way-be it food or just some pampering.
When we consider God’s intent and our dispositions, it would be clear to us that there’s so much we burden ourselves with in worry that we could unburden in prayer. Little wonder Paul advised “Don’t worry about anything but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel. (Phil 4:6 CEV).
If we are truly God’s children then we need to give him a chance to be our father. “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). What are you worried about? What pain or burden do you bear in your heart. It may even be so embarrassing that you’d rather not discuss with anyone but there’s someone who is not only ready to listen, he is also ready to help-His name is Jesus and he’s asking you this morning to “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened…”(Matthew 7:7-8).
So, rather than worry, complain or compare yourself to others why not cry to God in prayer like my son would cry out to me. When you do that believe that help is on the way. “And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14).
May God help you this day and always, to make a decision to cast all your cares upon the Lord, knowing that he cares for you.
