Developing Faith: A Lifelong Journey

“For we live by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7

As we begin the month of April, our focus is on “Understanding The Subject of Faith.” Faith is not just an emergency tool for last-minute situations, but a steady, continuous process that builds over time. It’s crucial to recognize that the absence of faith results in defeat, while faith brings victory. The more we cultivate faith, the more we are able to overcome the challenges of life.

Faith is not a reactive measure; it is proactive. When we face crises, we often pray for a miracle, relying on gifts of the Spirit or the anointing from others. However, faith works before the crisis hits, shielding us from the need for last-minute miracles. By growing our faith steadily, we build a foundation that helps us face challenges with confidence and trust in God’s promises.

The key is to understand that faith is something we can work at will. Unlike the gifts of the Spirit, which are as the Spirit wills, faith is something we can choose to activate and cultivate daily. In Mark 5:25-34, the woman with the issue of blood did not wait until a crisis moment. She made a decision to act in faith, setting a point of contact with Jesus for her healing. her faith, activated by her decision, made her whole.

We must take this same approach—faith is not something we wait to build in times of crisis but rather a tool to develop daily. Choose today to actively work your faith, and remember, it’s a process that will equip you for every challenge you face.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for the gift of faith. I ask that you help me develop and strengthen my faith daily. Teach me not to wait for a crisis to seek your help but to trust in your promises every moment. I choose to walk by faith and not by sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
