Empowered by the Spirit

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!” – Luke 11:13 (AMPC)

We all know what it’s like to feel drained, to go through the motions without experiencing real breakthrough. As believers, we have the Holy Spirit, but there’s a big difference between possessing the Holy Spirit and being fully surrendered to His power and presence. For years, I lived with the Holy Spirit in my life but didn’t truly invite Him to take control and lead me. I was stuck, limping along, until one day I reached a crisis point—when I realized I couldn’t do it on my own any longer. That’s when I asked God to fill me afresh, to empower me with His Spirit.

Just like Jesus promises in today’s verse, our heavenly Father is more than willing to give us the Holy Spirit when we ask. He doesn’t withhold His power from His children. He knows exactly what we need, even when we don’t. There was a time when I didn’t know how much I needed God’s Spirit until I asked for a deeper filling, and in that moment, everything started to change. God’s presence began to equip me in ways I never imagined possible.

It’s easy to rely on our own strength, but Jesus reminds us in John 15:5 that apart from Him, we can do nothing. That’s why we must be intentional about asking God for the fullness of the Holy Spirit every day. When we surrender to Him, we tap into a source of power that enables us to walk in God’s will, bear fruit, and become the witnesses He’s called us to be. The Holy Spirit doesn’t just empower us for a one-time moment—He transforms us daily, leading us closer to the heart of God.

Today, take a moment to ask God to fill you afresh with His Spirit. Ask for His empowerment to do what He’s called you to do, and trust that His power will make all the difference. As you do, you will experience God in a way that brings real change, equipping you to live out His purpose for your life.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for giving me your Holy Spirit. I realize that I need Your power to live out the calling You’ve placed on my life. I ask You to fill me afresh today, to equip me with Your strength, wisdom, and presence. I surrender to You fully, trusting that Your Spirit will guide me, empower me, and help me do all that You’ve planned for me. I believe that with Your Spirit, I can accomplish Your will and bear fruit for Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
