Ezra 8:28 (NIV)
“I said to them, ‘You, as well as these articles, are consecrated to the Lord. The silver and gold are a freewill offering to the Lord, the God of your ancestors.’”
As Ezra prepared for the journey to Jerusalem, he did something profound-he carefully selected twelve leaders and entrusted them with the temple treasures: silver, gold, and sacred articles offered by the people for God’s house. These weren’t just valuable items; they were holy offerings, meant for worship and restoration. And Ezra reminded the carriers that both they and the treasure were set apart for the Lord. It was a moment that reflected the weight of spiritual stewardship.
In the same way, God has entrusted each of us with treasure. It may not be silver or gold, but it’s just as sacred-our time, talents, testimonies, and spiritual gifts. You may not carry articles for the temple, but you carry hope for the hurting, truth for the confused, encouragement for the weary, and purpose for the lost. We are all vessels, consecrated to carry something precious for God’s kingdom.
Ezra didn’t hand off the responsibility lightly. He charged the leaders to guard the treasure carefully until it reached its destination. That’s a picture of how we should view our own calling. What God has placed in your hands is not just for you-it’s for His glory and the blessing of others. You are not just a receiver-you are a steward. And stewardship means carrying what matters with faithfulness and integrity.
So today, ask yourself: What treasure has God entrusted to me? Am I guarding it, using it, and honoring Him with it? You don’t have to be in full-time ministry to carry something holy. If you belong to Jesus, you’re already part of His delivery system. And the world is waiting on what you’ve been given.
