An elderly man was taking a stroll with his grandson sometimes ago when suddenly on the road they heard the loud sound of an Aeroplane. The boy looked up and saw the plane from a distance, he called his father’s attention to it and asked why the plane was so small. Grandpa replied, the plane is not that small, it’s actually bigger than it looks but your perspective is being affected by your proximity.
Grandpa noticed that this boy just didn’t get the gist so he decided to take him on a tour to the nearby airport for him to see a typical Aeroplane in all its glory. When the boy got to the Airport and saw a plane, he was surprised. So he asked grandpa “Why was it so small then when we saw it last week?” Grandpa replied “ Because when we saw it last week, we were so far away from the plane, the closer you are to it, the bigger it appears to you. It’s just a matter of perspective”
Now grandpa wasn’t just correct about perspective about Aeroplane, this insight holds true about God as well. The closer we are to God the bigger he becomes and more real to us; the farther we get away from God the smaller he becomes and the bigger the problem and challenges of life begin to appear.

The question we all must answer today is how close am I to God? One litmus test of our proximity to God is how often he speaks to us; how much time we have created for him to engage with us. How many life issues that we go through everyday do we mention to him in the place of prayer?
Here’s my counsel to you today as advised by James, the Lord’s brother. “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded” James 4:8
Is God with you in everything or are you just running alone? If he isn’t, it’s time to draw near to him.
