Jesus is Alive

After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

Acts 1:3

As a child, one of the songs we usually sang in Sunday School went like this:
He’s alive Amen, He’s alive Amen

Jesus is alive forever, 

He’s alive, Amen. 

In reality, though, most of us probably didn’t know the deeper implications of what we were saying then. In Acts 1:3, however, we are reminded of this profound truth which is at the heart of our Christian faith: Jesus Christ is alive! After His resurrection from the dead, Jesus appeared to His disciples over a period of forty days, providing them with many convincing proofs that He was indeed alive. This undeniable reality has profound implications for our lives and our faith.

First and foremost, the fact that Jesus is alive assures us that we serve and pray to a living God. Unlike the lifeless idols of the world, our God is real, present, and active in our lives. He hears our prayers, sees our struggles, and intervenes on our behalf. We can approach Him with confidence, knowing that He is attentive to our every need and capable of meeting us in our time of need.

Furthermore, the resurrection of Jesus serves as the cornerstone of our hope as believers. As the apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:14-19, if Christ has not been raised, our faith is futile, and we are still in our sins. But because Jesus conquered death and rose victorious from the grave, we have hope beyond the confines of this earthly life. His resurrection assures us of our own resurrection and the promise of eternal life with Him in glory.

There will be times of uncertainty, doubt, and despair in our lives, but we must fix our eyes on the living hope that we have in Jesus Christ. His resurrection stands as a beacon of light in the darkness, reminding us that He is with us always, even to the end of the age. Today, let’s draw strength, courage, and comfort from this reality of His resurrection, because we know that He who conquered the grave is alive and reigns forevermore. He is more than able to give us victory over anything we might be going through.
