He sent only two spies and did so secretly, ensuring that the mission’s outcome would not incite public fear or unrest.

He remembered that during the previous mission, only two of the twelve spies—Caleb and himself—returned with a faith-filled, God-honoring report (Numbers 14:6-9). As Christians, it is essential to reflect on our past experiences, particularly our failures, and learn from them. When we encounter setbacks or mistakes, we should not be discouraged but rather seek God’s wisdom to understand what we can learn from those situations. By doing so, we grow in maturity and are better equipped to make decisions that align with God’s will.

By choosing spies who were likely to return with a positive, faith-based report, Joshua demonstrated his trust in God’s promises.
