Loving the Saints

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
—John 13:35 (NIV)

One of the most powerful ways we can show the world who we belong to is through the way we love one another. In John 13:35, Jesus makes it clear: loving fellow believers is a testimony to the world of our faith in Him. This love isn’t just about affection or shared beliefs; it’s about actively showing kindness, support, and compassion within the body of Christ. When we love one another well, we reflect the heart of God and offer a living example of His love to the world around us.

But what does this love look like in practical terms? It means being patient with one another, forgiving quickly, and offering encouragement when someone is struggling. It’s showing up for your brothers and sisters in Christ, whether it’s helping with a need, praying with them, or simply listening when they need to be heard. Loving the saints means we make the effort to build deep, authentic relationships with fellow believers, celebrating their victories and supporting them through their challenges.

As believers, we are called to demonstrate a love that is selfless and sacrificial. When we love each other as Jesus loved us, we are fulfilling His command to be united in Him. This love is not contingent on perfection or performance; it’s about accepting one another as we are, extending grace and walking together toward spiritual growth. The world around us is watching. In a world that’s often divided by differences, our love for one another as believers stands as a powerful testimony to the truth of the gospel. It shows that we are united not by our own strength, but by the love of Christ. Let’s make sure our love for the saints is evident in everything we do, so the world can see and know that we are His disciples.

Lord, thank you for the gift of Christian community. Help me to love my brothers and sisters in Christ with the same sacrificial love that you have shown me. May my actions reflect your love so that others will know we belong to you. Amen.
