Making the Most of Money

“So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?” – Luke 16:11

Money is one of the most revealing tests of stewardship that God places in our hands. Jesus speaks of it plainly and without apology. He describes earthly wealth as a small responsibility when compared to eternal riches. This tells us something profound. God does not separate spiritual maturity from financial responsibility. How we manage money reflects how we manage life.

Many believers desire greater spiritual authority, deeper revelation, and expanded influence, yet they remain careless with the resources God has already entrusted to them. Jesus teaches that faithfulness with money is a training ground. It is not the destination, but it is a proving place. If we are undisciplined, careless, or ignorant in handling earthly resources, it often points to a deeper issue of stewardship that must be addressed.

This year, one of the wisest decisions you can make is to learn how money works. Not so you can chase wealth, but so wealth does not control you. God wants you free from anxiety, debt-driven decisions, and financial confusion. He wants you equipped to support his work on the earth generously and joyfully. Kingdom advancement requires resources, and God is intentional about who he entrusts them to.

Managing money well does not begin with abundance. It begins with obedience, discipline, and understanding. When you learn to budget, plan, give, and save wisely, you are not being worldly; you are being prepared. The goal is not riches for self, but sufficiency for purpose. When finances are aligned, distractions reduce, clarity increases, and capacity expands.

As you walk through this year of opportunity, ask God to help you see money correctly. It is a tool, not a master. A servant, not a ruler. When placed in the right hands, it becomes a channel through which God blesses lives, advances his kingdom, and establishes his purposes in the earth.

Prayer
Father, thank you for every resource you have placed in my care. I ask for wisdom, discipline, and understanding in how I manage money this year. Deliver me from waste, fear, and poor decisions. Teach me to be faithful with what I have, so I can be trusted with more for your kingdom. Let my finances serve your purpose and bring glory to your name, in Jesus’ name.
