Making the Most of Relationships

Key Verse
“I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.” Luke 16:9

Relationships are one of God’s most powerful currencies, yet they are often treated casually. Jesus makes a striking statement in this passage, showing us that relationships can outlive resources and even open doors beyond temporary seasons. He follows this teaching with a parable of a servant who was dismissed for poor management, yet wisely leveraged relationships to secure his future. The servant lost his position, but he did not lose his understanding of people.

This teaches us an important lesson for this year. Opportunities are rarely accessed in isolation. God often uses people as bridges into new seasons. Every relationship carries potential, but that potential must be stewarded intentionally. Being relational does not mean being manipulative. It means being valuable, dependable, and trustworthy. It means showing up with integrity, serving well, and adding value wherever God places you.

This year, learn to be a profitable partner. Do not only ask what you can gain from people, ask how you can contribute. Healthy relationships are built on mutual benefit, shared vision, and consistent character. At the same time, wisdom also involves strategic alignment. Not every relationship upgrades you, and not every connection should have the same level of access to your life.

God uses alliances to elevate capacity. Jonathan strengthened David. Ruth aligned with Naomi. Paul partnered with Timothy. These relationships were not accidental. They were purposeful connections that shaped destiny. As you move through this year, be intentional about building, maintaining, and honoring relationships. What you steward well today may become the platform God uses to sustain you tomorrow.

Prayer
Father, thank you for the people you have placed in my life. Teach me to steward relationships with wisdom, humility, and discernment. help me to be a source of value and encouragement to others. Align me with relationships that sharpen my calling and advance your purpose in my life. Protect my heart from misuse and help me walk in love and integrity, in Jesus’ name.
