Pledging to Do the Father’s Will

Key Verse:
“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” – John 5:30 (KJV)

In John 5:30, Jesus reveals the secret to His perfect life and ministry: He never acted on His own will but always sought and obeyed the will of the Father. He did not rely on His own strength or understanding, but trusted the Father in every situation. Jesus’ life was a constant demonstration of submission to God’s will, and this is the path we are called to follow as well.

At this moment, I want you to make a pledge to God-a personal commitment that you will do His will in any situation once He reveals it to you. This pledge is the first step in becoming a son or daughter who brings pleasure to the Father. As you make this pledge, commit yourself to live in obedience to God, to follow His leading in every decision, and to let His will be the guiding force in your thoughts, words, and actions.

The first decision to make is to decide that you will always choose to do God’s will when you are made aware of it. Whether in your thoughts, your words, or your actions, make it your goal to always choose what pleases the Father. This decision will be the foundation of your walk with God, enabling you to grow into a son who gives the Father great pleasure.

The second decision is to choose faith over fear. Whenever you find yourself facing a decision that requires faith, choose to trust God, no matter the outcome. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who stood firm in their faith even when faced with the threat of death, choose to move forward in faith, not fear. It won’t always be easy. Living by faith requires effort, courage, and determination. You may face challenges, like needing medication when you’re sick, but let your faith, not fear, guide your decisions. Pledge to God that you will not allow the spirit of fear to dominate your choices.

The third decision is to lay your most critical prayer request at Christ’s feet. Decide that you will love God and serve Him, regardless of whether He answers your prayers in the way you expect. Don’t let unanswered prayers cause you to question God’s goodness or love for you. Trust that God is always at work, even when you don’t see the immediate results. Remember that God has prepared for you exceeding, abundantly, above all you could ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). When prayers seem unanswered, let your trust in God grow stronger, knowing that He is always working out His perfect plan for you. This was the experience of Jesus, and it can be your experience too.

Prayer:
Father, I make a pledge today to always seek your will in my life, no matter the situation. Help me to follow your leading in my thoughts, words, and actions. I choose faith over fear, I lay my most urgent prayers before you, and I commit to loving and trusting you, regardless of the outcome. Strengthen my faith and help me to trust you always. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
