Praying in Times of Crisis

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1

Life’s storms often hit without warning—a sudden illness, a financial crisis, or an unexpected loss. In those moments, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, alone, or uncertain of what to do next. But Psalm 46:1 reminds us of a powerful truth: God is our refuge and strength, always present to help us in times of trouble. When everything feels like it’s falling apart, prayer becomes the lifeline that connects us to His unshakable presence and power.

In crisis, our first instinct is often to act—to fix the problem, find a solution, or seek help from others. While those things are not wrong, they can leave us feeling even more exhausted and anxious if we neglect prayer. Turning to God in prayer anchors our hearts and minds, reminding us that we’re not alone. He is with us, steady and unchanging, even in the chaos.
