Prepare for God’s Wonders

Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.

As the Israelites prepared to cross the Jordan River and enter the Promised Land, Joshua issued a crucial command: “Consecrate yourselves.” This was a call to spiritual preparation, emphasizing that the upcoming crossing was not merely a physical challenge but a spiritual one. By consecrating themselves, the Israelites were to separate from common things, cleanse themselves, and focus on God. This preparation was necessary to witness the wonders God would perform among them.

The act of consecration implied more than just physical cleanliness. It involved a deep, internal readiness to experience God’s presence and power. In Exodus 19:10-14, Moses gave similar instructions, requiring the people to wash their clothes and abstain from anything that might distract their minds. This process of sanctification was essential for them to fully grasp and appreciate the miracle God was about to perform.

Today, we face our own spiritual battles and challenges. If we desire God’s intervention and miracles in our lives, we too must consecrate ourselves. This means setting aside time to seek God earnestly, purifying our hearts, and removing distractions that pull us away from Him. It’s a call to align our lives with God’s holiness, creating an environment where His wonders can manifest.

Sanctification is not about achieving perfection but about intentional pursuit of God’s presence. By dedicating ourselves to prayer, reading Scripture, and living according to His commands, we position ourselves to witness God’s power. Just as the Israelites needed to be spiritually prepared to see God work, we must prepare our hearts and minds to experience His miraculous interventions.
