Stop Crying, Move Forward

“And the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.'” – Exodus 14:15 (NKJV)

Israel stood paralyzed at the edge of the Red Sea-Pharaoh’s army closing in from behind, and an impossible sea before them. Fear gave way to desperation, and cries rose to heaven. But God’s response was surprising: “Why do you cry to Me? … Go forward.” Prayer is vital, but there comes a moment when faith must put feet to the ground. God was telling His people that it was time to act.

We often find ourselves in similar moments. We pray for breakthrough, yet hesitate when it’s time to take a step of faith. We ask God to open doors, but we’re afraid to walk through them. Sometimes, the sea won’t part until you move toward it. True faith doesn’t wait for every detail to make sense-it moves forward in obedience, trusting that God will make a way where there seems to be none.

Notice that God didn’t minimize their cries; He redirected them. There’s a time to fall on your knees, and there’s a time to rise to your feet. The same God who hears our prayers also calls us to action. Praying for a job? Apply. Believing for reconciliation? Make the call. Trusting God for provision? Step out in obedience with what He’s placed in your hand. Prayer and action are partners, not enemies.

So, where is God saying to you, “Stop crying, move forward”? It may feel risky, but the miracle waits on the other side of obedience. Just as the Red Sea opened once Israel stepped forward, your faith-filled action may be the key to unlocking God’s supernatural provision. Don’t stay stuck in fear-move forward in faith.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for hearing my cries, but also for calling me to move in faith. Give me courage to take the next step, even when the way looks impossible. Help me to trust that as I move forward, You will make a way for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
