The Cost of True Christianity

Key Verse:
“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” – Hebrews 11:13 (KJV)

Hebrews 11 highlights the great exploits of men and women of faith. This chapter showcases individuals who accomplished extraordinary things through their faith in God, yet it also tells of those who endured immense trials and suffering. These were men and women who paid a high price for their faith. Their stories remind us that true Christianity is not without cost. Until your Christianity costs you something, you are not worth much.

I pray that you will be part of this esteemed group of men and women-those who have lived in such a way that the world does not deem them worthy, because their lives have been wholly devoted to God’s purposes. I pray that the book of testimonies in heaven will not be closed without your name and mine being added, a testimony of our obedience and sacrifice for God’s glory.

The first step in this journey is to establish a relationship with the Father and become a part of His Kingdom. If you have not yet given your life to Christ, this is the best time to make that decision. Let Jesus into your life today, and begin your walk with God. For those who are already part of God’s family, the next question is: At what level will you operate? Will you stay at the level of mere acceptance by the Father, or will you move to the level of His approval? God’s love for you is unconditional, but He desires more than mere acceptance-He longs for us to live in a way that brings Him joy and honor. Make that decision today to move from acceptance to approval. Mark it in your Bible as a moment of commitment to go deeper in your walk with God.

Many of us plan to travel, perhaps seeking a better life or pursuing greater opportunities. But we must ask ourselves: Can God guarantee that while you are working overseas or pursuing other goals, you are also advancing the Kingdom of God? Why did God give you your talents, education, or opportunities? These are not for your own glory, but to glorify Him through fulfilling His will. Wherever you go, His purpose should follow you, and you should carry the light of the gospel with you.

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the great privilege of being called your child. Help me to count the cost of true Christianity and to live in a way that honors you. I desire to move beyond mere acceptance and into a life that pleases you, fully surrendered to your will. Whether in my current place or in new opportunities, may my life always bring glory to your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
