The main goal of Christianity is not to pursue God’s love, but to live in such a way that we bring pleasure to the Father. As believers, our ultimate objective is to bring joy to God through our lives, just as Jesus did. His obedience to the Father brought joy to God’s heart, and we are called to follow that example. God is looking for sons and daughters who will live in a way that pleases Him, responding to His love with hearts that seek to honour Him.
Can God love us without being pleased with us? Yes, He can. God’s love for us is unconditional, and it does not depend on our actions or behaviour. A sinner may not be pleasing to God, but God still loves him. Likewise, as Christians, there may be times when God is not pleased with our behaviour, but His love for us remains unwavering because He cannot deny His own nature.
While God’s love for us is constant, pleasing the Father requires our active participation. We cannot please Him without our cooperation. Pleasing God is a conscious decision we make in response to the love He has already shown us. When we receive His love, our next step is to live in a way that reflects that love and brings joy to His heart.
In this journey, I pray that this month’s devotional will inspire you to set your life on a course that pleases the Father. Many employees work hard to please their bosses because they desire promotion. But as children of God, our goal should go beyond earthly rewards. We should aim to please our Heavenly Father, not for what we can get, but for the joy it brings to His heart.
As you reflect on your walk with God, ask yourself: Can God look at you and say,’This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased’? My prayer is that you will be transformed by this truth, and that God will indeed be able to say those words about you.
Prayer:
Father, I thank you for your unchanging love for me. I pray that my life will bring you joy and pleasure. Help me to make decisions that align with your will and honor you in all I do. I want to be a son who pleases you, not because I seek rewards, but because I desire to reflect your love in everything I do. May my life be a response to your love, and may you be pleased with me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
