The Lord is with you

12 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!”

Judges 6:12 (NKJV)

I remember watching a short video where a young lion cub was trying to stand its ground against a hyena. The hyena was almost on it before it suddenly turned back and ran away. The cub was trying to open its mouth and roar, but I saw behind it a large male lion charging in. Then it dawned on me why the hyena fled. It wasn’t the cub, it saw the lion coming. This is exactly the same way we are very feeble and powerless without the presence of the One who holds all power.

It is one thing for the Presence of God to be available. It is another thing for you to be aware that it is available. You cannot use what you do not even know you have. A man can be in debt and keep borrowing, if he is not aware that there was an inheritance left for him in a bank account. Even though the money is for him, he will continue in debt because he is not aware of what he has. This was the case of Gideon until the Angel of God appeared unto him.

Israel had turned away from God and they were reaping the consequences of their actions, as they were delivered to the hands of Midian for seven years. They served Midian for seven years, and were living in hiding in dens and caves and strongholds because of the Midianites. But it was not until they cried out to God in repentance, that God revealed Himself to Gideon. But God had been with them all along. But they could not live in His presence because of their sin. This sin had made them unaware of the Lord’s Presence in Israel.

Therefore, today you are reminded that, “The Lord is with you.” It doesn’t matter whether you think you deserve it or not, He is with you. It doesn’t matter if you feel it or not, He is with you. It doesn’t matter if you were aware or not, he is with you. But He wants you to be aware that He is with you, so that you can engage Him and call Him into your situation. Do you remember that Jesus was in the boat with the disciples when the storm hit. They struggled to solve it themselves, and when they were tired, they remembered Jesus was sleeping and they called Him to help them. Don’t wait till you exhaust all your options before you turn to God. He is right there with you, waiting on you to turn to Him.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank you for reminding me that you are always with me. I choose to live my life in the full assurance of your presence in my life. I do not want to waste my efforts, but always involve you in all that has to do with my life.
