The Lord was moved to pity

16 Nevertheless, the Lord raised up judges who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them. 17 Yet they would not listen to their judges, but they played the harlot with other gods, and bowed down to them. They turned quickly from the way in which their fathers walked, in obeying the commandments of the Lord; they did not do so. 18 And when the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed them and harassed them.

The story of the Israelites here in the book of Judges is an interesting, yet fascinating one. Judges 2:11-13 shows us how rebellious, disobedient and godless the people became after the Elders were gone. They did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served the Baals and they forsook the Lord God. They did wherever pleased them and lived for themselves, even after all that God had done for them. As a result of this, the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel. So God delivered them into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies. 

Nevertheless, the Lord was moved to pity over them, and He raised up Judges to deliver them from the hands of their oppressors. This is the exact representation of when the Scriptures says that, ”Mercy prevails over judgement” 

God could have just left the people in their suffering, since it is the repercussion of their own decisions. Yet out of His Love, He could not bear His people in so much suffering. Therefore, as you are reading this today, understand that God’s love over you is so much that He doesn’t like it when you suffer, especially when you are suffering out of disobedience. His desire is to restore you and bring you back to Himself. And this is exactly what He did for the Israelites. He raised Judges for them to deliver them. 

Therefore, know today that regardless of whatever it is that you have gotten yourself into. No matter the repercussions that you are currently going through. The Mercy of God is so great that He is waiting for you to come back to Him. This time, he has already made a way out for you. Not Judges, but His very own Son (Jesus) who died so you and I can be reconciled to Him. And it doesn’t matter how great the sin is or how far you have God. The Mercy of God is able to find you out and bring you to the Father through Christ Jesus. Just call on Him today.

PRAYER

Father, I come today and I ask that your Mercy prevails over every judgement in my life. I repent of my sins and lay them before you. Cleanse me, sanctify me and draw me closer to yourself.
