It’s So Easy to Miss Your Way

A young man once set out to have his morning workout session. To conclude the exercise, he decided to jug from the gym to his house. While he was jugging, another young man suddenly jugged past him. So he said to himself, “I have to get ahead of him before he thinks he is more fit than I am”. So the race began!

While he was competing fiercely to overtake the stranger, the stranger was not even aware that he was in competition with anyone. Somewhere along the line the stranger finally slowed down and made a right turn to his compound giving the competing party a chance to finally win. When he did, he was happy but he suddenly realized that in a bid to outrun the stranger, he ran past his own house and now he’s too exhausted to turn back. Although he won the race, he missed his way. No wonder Paul says that “…they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” (2 Corinthians 10:12).

The truth of the matter is that as long as the earth remains, there will always be a basis for competition but never a need for it. The biggest root of comparison and competition is most time greed and lack of contentment. The reality is that our needs are different, our experiences are different and more importantly, our timings are different. “God makes all things beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

All your friends might be married, employed, rich, have given birth and it seems you are the odd one out, the truth is that some of your mates are dead too! So, when you desperately want to be everything that your mates have become, remember there are 101 things that some of them have become that you’ll never even desire for your enemy. Appreciate God for where you are in hope for where you want!

There is no competition in destiny! so, calm down! Don’t try to run faster than God to catch up with men; you may end up missing your way!
