What’s in Your Hand?

Key Verse:
“Then Moses answered and said, ‘But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, “The Lord has not appeared to you.”’ So the Lord said to him, ‘What is that in your hand?’ He said, ‘A rod.’” – Exodus 4:1–2 (NKJV)

When God called Moses, his first concern was doubt. “What if they don’t believe me?” It is a question many of us ask when God asks us to step out of our comfort zone. Like Moses, we often focus on our limitations instead of God’s power. But God redirected his attention with a simple question: “What is in your hand?” In other words, you already have what you need to begin.

God never leaves you without resources. There is always something in your hand that He can use. It might be a talent, a relationship, your voice, or even a challenge you have overcome. Moses only had a rod, yet when he placed it in God’s hands, it became an instrument of power. What looked ordinary became extraordinary when surrendered to divine purpose.

Beloved, do not underestimate what God can do with what you already have. You do not need to wait for more money, more experience, or a bigger stage. Offer what is in your hand and let God transform it. The miracle is not in the object but in the obedience. When you surrender what you have, He multiplies it for His glory.

Not everyone will believe in your calling, but that does not matter. God is the one who sent you, and He is the one who will confirm His word through you. Step out in faith and use what is in your hand. God will do the rest.

Father, thank you for reminding me that you have already placed everything I need in my hands. Help me to trust you with what I have and to surrender it completely to your will. Use my gifts, my time, and my story to show your power and bring glory to your name. In Jesus’ name, amen.
