When the Promise Sounds Impossible

Key Verse:
“Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, ‘Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?’” – Genesis 17:17 (NKJV)

God has a way of making promises that sound completely unbelievable. For Abraham and Sarah, the idea of having a child at their age was laughable. From a human perspective, the math just did not make sense. Their season seemed long past, and all the evidence around them said it was impossible. Can you relate? Maybe God has whispered something to your heart that feels far beyond your reach. You look at your circumstances and think, “Be real, Lord. How could that ever happen?”

But faith is not built on logic or numbers; it is built on the nature of God. Abraham and Sarah laughed because what they heard had never been done before. Yet God specializes in doing what has never been done. When there is no record of success, He becomes the precedent. When there is no proof to hold on to, His word becomes enough. He repeated His promise to Abraham several times, not because He had to, but because He wanted to move Abraham from fear to faith.

Maybe you are the first in your family to believe for something big, and there is no example to follow. That is where God loves to work. He invites you into the “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” dimension, where His word is the only evidence you need. When He speaks, that alone is proof it can happen.

Beloved, do not let fear make you laugh at God’s promises. Choose to say, “Yes, Lord,” even when the numbers do not add up. The One who called light out of darkness will bring His word to pass in your life. Nothing is too hard for Him.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for every promise you have spoken over my life. Even when it sounds impossible, help me to trust your word. Remind me that you are the God who keeps His word and nothing is too difficult for you. Strengthen my faith to believe and to say yes to your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.
