Who Am I?

Key Verse:
“But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?’ So He said, ‘I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.’” – Exodus 3:11–12 (NKJV)

The question “Who am I?” reveals more than curiosity; it exposes uncertainty about identity. Moses had lived between two worlds. Born a Hebrew, raised as an Egyptian, and now living as a fugitive, he never truly fit anywhere. His life story was a mix of privilege and pain, and that left him unsure of who he was or what he was capable of. When God called him to lead Israel, his first response was not faith but doubt. “Who am I to go?” He could not see past his past.

But God had already answered that question before Moses asked it. When He revealed Himself as “the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,” He was reminding Moses that his identity was not defined by where he came from but by whose he was. God was saying, “You belong to Me. You are part of My covenant family.” In other words, Moses’ purpose was not rooted in his failures or background but in God’s promise and presence.

The same truth applies to you. Your worth is not determined by your past or your surroundings but by your connection to God. You are His child, created in His image, and redeemed by the blood of Jesus. You carry the DNA of heaven. When you walk into a room, you carry divine power and purpose. The enemy may whisper that you are not enough, but God declares that you are chosen, loved, and equipped.

Beloved, do not let fear or insecurity define you. Stand tall in the confidence that the One who called you is with you. Go forward knowing that your identity is secure in Christ, and that His presence in you is all the qualification you need.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for reminding me that my identity is found in you. Help me to see myself through your eyes and not through my fears or failures. Strengthen my heart to walk boldly in your purpose, knowing that you are with me and within me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
