3 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Indeed now, you are barren and have borne no children, but you shall conceive and bear a son.
Judges 13:3 (NKJV)
When God created man in the very beginning, one of the major purposes mentioned according to Genesis 1:28 is fruitfulness. This means that it is the will of God that everyone is fruitful in all areas, because it is the sole purpose of man. The goal of fruitfulness is to replenish the earth, i.e. to take charge, influence and govern the earth. What does this mean? It means that fruitfulness is the way through which we can transform the world for Jesus. By producing godly seeds, by producing godly traits and attitudes, by speaking godly words and living godly lives. We begin to influence the world for Christ. This is being fruitful.
God doesn’t just want us to bear fruits, but fruits that will last and have lasting effects. Therefore, during another time when Israel sinned and were subjected to the rule of the Philistines for forty years. God found a Manoah and his wife, whose seed he wanted to use to restore the way of God back to Israel. It was said that she was barren and had no children. But one day, the angel of the Lord visited her and told her she was going to conceive and bear a son. This must have been a strange meeting for her. But, one consistent thing we have seen through the Scriptures is that no one who trusted God was barren through their life. It points back to the purpose of the creation of man, it was for fruitfulness, so as to influence the earth. Be it physical fruitfulness in children, in wealth, in health, in business, in government, etc. Or immaterial fruitfulness in behaviours and attitudes and so on. The purpose of God for you is that you are fruitful, and that fruitfulness translates into influencing the world for Christ.
This is why many times, God has practically used the seed of waiting families to influence the world, From Isaac to Samuel, to Samson to John the Baptist and so on. He is using these examples to show to us the goal of every fruit that comes from us. When people meet us, we plant seeds in them through our attitudes, words, character, etc, and over time this seed germinates in them and yields fruit in their lives. This is exactly why we are told to let our light shine before men,so that they may see our good works and glorify our father in Heaven. Our good works are the ways by which we plant the seeds, and when they become fruits in the lives of those who received them, they will glorify God. This is fruitfulness.
Now, can you look at areas of your lives that look barren, and speak God’s word saying, “You shall conceive”. Exodus 23:25 promises that none shall be barren. Fruitfulness is God’s portion for you on all sides, physically, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and all aspects of your life. Hold unto God’s promise for fruitfulness, and be fruitful and replenish the earth.
PRAYER
Father, I hold unto your Word that promises me fruitfulness, and I declare over every area of my life, that I walk in fruitfulness. I am not barren but fruitful. Every pattern or stronghold of barrenness in my life is broken today in Jesus Name. I live in fruitfulness in Christ Jesus.
