Your Faith Has Healed You

He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

Mark 5:34

Have you ever been desperate? Have you at least ever seen a desperate man? Desperate men do desperate things and most times they get unusual results. For instance, in Mark 2, we saw the story of some desperate young men. Their friend was paralyzed and unable to meet Jesus. They took him to the place where Jesus was preaching, when they got there, the whole place was full, they probably checked the window and it was blocked! The bible says they broke through the roof. They didn’t care how much it would cost, or how the owner of the house would feel; they were desperate! And desperate people do desperate things.

This is similar to what happened in Mark 5. While Jesus was preaching, In the crowd was a woman who had been sick for twelve years with a hemorrhage. She had suffered much from many doctors through the years and had become poor from paying them, and was no better but, in fact, was worse. She had heard all about the wonderful miracles Jesus did, and that is why she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his clothes (Mark 5:25-27 TLB)

This woman spent 12 years of her life paying any consultant that ever offered a promise of healing to her. At this time, she was already broke and had nothing to offer anymore. She had come to the end of herself. So, when she heard about Jesus, she became desperate. So desperate that she didn’t care that her ceremonial uncleanness arising from this sickness meant that she couldn’t be seen in the crowd. She became so desperate that she didn’t even want much from Jesus – she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his clothing, I will be healed.”(Mark 5:28 TLB). Guess what? As soon as she had touched him, the bleeding stopped and she knew she was well!

At this point, Jesus knew that virtue left him but more importantly he knew how it left. So he asked, “Who touched my clothes?” The disciples found that question ridiculous, of course, who wouldn’t? “All this crowd pressing around you, and you ask who touched you?” Common, everybody is touching you! But No! This touch is different, it’s the touch of a desperate woman. Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and told him what she had done. And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, healed of your disease.”(Mark 5:33-34 TLB)

So, are you desperate too? You need to come to that point of desperately trusting in Jesus and reaching out to him in that desperate faith.
