Yesterday, we looked at how God chose to save Israel by three hundred men, and His choice of men was so that no man could glory in himself. God indeed was the one who got the victory. But, even though God has given the victory, and He is the one who is worthy of the glory of the victory, we as men still have a very important part to play in the implementation of God’s victory.
Imagine a man who was given a cheque of a million dollars. This money has been given to Him, but he is unable to use that money until he cashes the cheque or transfers it to his account. In the same way, the fact that God has given us victory does not make it an automatic work in our lives. There is always a part for us to play in order to see the reality of the victory. God has done the most part by getting us the victory. However, we must play our part of bringing that victory into reality.
Scriptures tell us that God has given us all that we need for life and godliness, but the location is in the Heavenly realms. God however wants us to make use of everything He has given to us. It is one thing for us to know that something is given, it is another to collect it, and it is another to make use of it. God dies the first part, we do the other two parts of collecting and making use of it.
This is exactly what we see of Gideon. God promised victory with the three hundred men. But the three hundred men would not see the victory sitting down in their houses. No, they had to go to war at the Lord’s instructions. They took action, they marched out in obedience.
Isaiah 60 tells us to “Arise and shine, for light has come”. The beauty of this is that God has already given the light, but we still need to arise.
What are we saying here? Every word of God is dependent on both God and man’s part to play. And in countless places in the Scriptures, we have seen God make commitment and played his part of the agenda. And most times, the part left is ours. Our obedience, our waiting upon God, our diligence, our trust in God, our consistently in prayer, our continuous study, our life of faith. There are so many ways we are supposed to play our part in making the promises of God a reality in our lives. The main point for us is to take action in alignment with God’s promises and agenda.
PRAYER
Father, I thank you for all the wonderful promises and gracious things that you have made available for me. I take possession of them, and I choose to make good use of them in my life. Help me to always be in alignment with what you are doing with me.
