“and said, ‘If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.’” – Exodus 15:26 (NKJV)
After singing songs of victory by the Red Sea, the Israelites quickly faced another challenge-thirst in the wilderness. When they came to Marah, the only water available was too bitter to drink. Their celebration turned to complaint. But God, in His mercy, showed Moses a tree, and when it was thrown into the water, the bitterness was made sweet. This moment revealed not only God’s power to heal water but also His promise to heal His people.
We, too, encounter “bitter waters”-seasons that leave a sour taste in our mouths. It could be disappointment, betrayal, grief, or a dream that didn’t unfold as expected. In those moments, it’s easy to grumble like Israel, but God invites us to trust that He can make bitter things sweet. Just as He transformed Marah, He is able to turn our hardest seasons into testimonies of His faithfulness.
Notice that God didn’t just solve their immediate problem; He revealed His character: “I am the Lord who heals you.” Healing is not just something He does; it’s who He is. And His healing isn’t limited to bodies-it reaches hearts, relationships, and even the painful chapters of our lives. What once seemed bitter can, by His touch, become the very thing that points others to His goodness.
So, where are your bitter waters today? Instead of giving in to despair, bring them to the One who heals. He can turn trials into testimonies, pain into praise, and bitterness into sweetness. Trust Him with the waters of your life-you may be surprised by the sweetness He brings forth.

Lord, thank You that You are the One who heals me. Take the bitter places in my life and make them sweet by Your power. Teach me to trust You in every season, believing that You can turn even my hardest moments into testimonies of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
