Life often tempts us to stockpile—whether it’s money, food, or even control over our future. Yet, when God provided manna for the Israelites in the wilderness, He gave specific instructions: gather only enough for each day. Some ignored this, trying to hoard manna overnight, only to wake up to a foul-smelling mess. This lesson wasn’t just about food; it was about teaching them to rely on God for their daily needs and trust His provision.
My friend told me about a policy that was established by her mother for their family. Every time you are caught complaining about anything, work, relationships or finance; you will drop N10,000 in the family complaint box. I think we should all have that rule in our families.
Okay, confession time! Have you ever caught yourself complaining about something you once prayed for? Maybe it was a job you desperately wanted, a relationship you longed for, or even a home you dreamed of owning. Over time, what once seemed like a blessing can feel ordinary, even dissatisfying. The Israelites knew this feeling all too well.
Waiting can be one of the hardest things to do, especially when we’re eager for answers or change. The Israelites experienced this first hand at Mount Sinai. God’s glory descended on the mountain in a cloud, and Moses went up to meet Him. But for six long days, Moses waited in silence while the cloud covered the mountain. It wasn’t until the seventh day that God called out to him. Imagine the anticipation and uncertainty during those six days—yet Moses waited patiently, trusting in God’s perfect timing.
Have you ever faced a crossroads in life, unsure of which direction to take? Perhaps you’ve prayed for clarity or some unmistakable sign from God. The Israelites didn’t have to guess where God wanted them to go. As they journeyed from Egypt through the wilderness, the Lord provided a visible and tangible guide: a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. These pillars weren’t just miraculous signs; they represented God’s constant presence, guidance, and protection every step of the way.
In 2012 during my National Youth Service. My account with the federal government had technical issues and for three months I couldn’t get paid. I was in a foreign land, nobody to turn to for help but I trusted God and for those three months he met all my needs. I remember being in church one Sunday with the last cash I had on me being N100. I was torn between dropping it as my offering and using it as transport back home. I dipped my hands into my pocket and before I could bring it out, the person beside me looked at me and said “I perceive you don’t have offering” and before I could respond he handed me a N500 note. Instead of keeping the 500 and dropping the initial 100 Naira in my pocket, I did exactly the opposite! Why? That gesture from the man beside me was all I needed to keep my faith going and God honoured it every day. I got back to my lodge only to be invited by the principal of the school where I was teaching. He gave me enough food items to last months. That same week, someone in another state was prompted by the Holy Spirit to send me some money. In short, I didn’t have what you can call ‘abundance’ in those three months but I lacked nothing. God met my needs one day at a time.
It is crucial to understand that divine and satanic flows are connected to individuals. Your relationships play a vital role in either cultivating blessings or allowing destructive forces into your life. Never try to service relationships that bring negative, satanic flows into your life. Instead, cut those relationships off and focus on nurturing the relationships that bring divine flows and blessings.
To reach your destination, you must recognize when the vehicle for your journey shows up. God’s vehicle for your future could be a ministry, a business, a friendship, a church, an assignment, an instruction, or a program. This vehicle can be secular or spiritual, but it will always be the means through which God takes you to your destiny.
When Jesus said, “Let us pass over unto the other side” (Mark 4:35), he was setting a clear objective and destination for His journey. The question for you is: Where are you going? In life, you must have a destination in mind—whether it’s financial, professional, in marriage, or in ministry. Without a defined goal, you risk wandering aimlessly. You can’t achieve what you haven’t clearly set out to achieve.
Crises are inevitable in this world. However, as believers, God has a separate package prepared for us. By following the principles of faith, we can rise above every storm in life. When you find yourself in the middle of a storm, living by faith will have you already wrapped up in God’s instructions and directions, ready to navigate the challenges with His guidance. To live in faith, you must apply these essential principles:
Bad leadership is one of the devil’s most destructive assaults against the collective destiny of any group of people. When leadership is appointed by the devil, it can exchange long-term futures for short-term gains. This is what happened with Esau. He was the leader of his family, yet he made a disastrous decision by selling his birthright for a single meal. The Bible calls Esau a “profane person” (Hebrews 12:16) because he did not recognize the value of the glorious heritage that was reserved for his family by birthright. By giving it away so cheaply, he removed his family from God’s first choice and future blessing.
