Embracing the Normal Experiences

Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things. Mark 6:34 (NKJV)

Continuing from where we left off, let’s explore the third type of experience that believers can encounter: Normal Experiences. These are the experiences that the majority of Christians will go through at various points in their walk with God. Unlike exceptional experiences, which are rare and often extraordinary, normal experiences are more common and routine, yet they play an important role in shaping our faith and testimony.

Normal experiences are a part of every believer’s life. You shouldn’t feel discouraged or think that something is wrong when you find yourself going through these ordinary moments. In fact, many of the heroes of faith in the Bible also had their share of normal, everyday experiences. Even Jesus, though divine, embraced the normal human experience. In Mark 11:12-14, Jesus was hungry and approached a fig tree, hoping to find food. This was a normal human experience-God in the flesh, feeling hunger. He didn’t perform a miracle to satisfy His need that day; instead, He used His faith just like we do in our daily lives. This shows us that having normal experiences is a part of our Christian journey.

In ministry, leaders often share exceptional testimonies to stir faith in their congregations, but it’s important to remember that not every testimony will be extraordinary. As believers, we are called to live faithfully through both the exceptional and the normal experiences. The calling on our lives does not exempt us from the regular, everyday moments. Whether it’s handling family responsibilities, going through personal challenges, or simply living out our faith in the mundane, these moments matter.

When we embrace the normal experiences, we learn to trust God in the simplicity of life. It’s in these moments that we grow, just as much as in the extraordinary ones. Let us not overlook or despise the normal. Every part of our journey is meaningful and is an opportunity to deepen our relationship with God.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for every season of my life, both the extraordinary and the normal. Help me to recognize your presence in the ordinary moments and to trust you in every experience. I ask that you strengthen my faith to live faithfully in the midst of everyday life. Teach me to walk in your will. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
