God Sees Your Effort

Ezra 5:5 (NIV)
“But the eye of their God was watching over the elders of the Jews, and they were not stopped until a report could go to Darius and his written reply be received.”

There’s something incredibly comforting about knowing someone sees you-especially when you’re doing something hard. In Ezra 5:5, the builders were under intense scrutiny. Their motives were questioned, their actions were reported, and the threat of being shut down loomed over them. Yet, they kept building. Why? Because they knew something greater than fear-God’s eye was on them.

It’s easy to feel invisible when you’re doing the right thing and no one seems to notice. You wake up early to pray, you stay faithful at work, you love others when it’s hard, and yet… it feels like no one sees the cost. But God does. He sees every brick of obedience, every tear shed in silence, every act of faith that no one applauds. His watchful eye isn’t passive-it’s protective, encouraging, and empowering.

The presence of God’s gaze didn’t remove the pressure, but it gave the people the courage to keep going. They weren’t working for approval from men; they were working under the care of the One who called them. And that truth made all the difference. When you know that God sees you, you stop needing constant validation from others. His awareness becomes your confidence.

So if you’re building something-your faith, your family, your calling-and opposition is rising or progress feels slow, take heart. God sees your effort. He’s not just watching from afar-He’s standing with you, guarding your steps and cheering you on. Keep building. You are not alone.

Lord, thank you for watching over me. When I feel unnoticed or under pressure, remind me that your eyes are on me-not with judgment, but with love and encouragement. Help me to keep going, knowing that every step I take in obedience matters to you.
