God’s Justice and Mercy

 “But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” – Exodus 9:16 (NKJV)

Pharaoh’s stubbornness may have seemed like a roadblock, but God revealed something deeper: even Pharaoh’s resistance was being used to display God’s power. Though Pharaoh exalted himself as ruler, God reminded him that his very position existed to serve a higher purpose-to showcase the justice and mercy of the living God. What looked like unchecked arrogance was actually a stage for God’s glory.

This truth is comforting when we face difficult people or situations that seem immovable. Sometimes we wonder, “Why does God allow this? Why won’t He remove it right away?” But even in opposition, God is weaving His redemptive story. The very challenges that frustrate us can become the platform for His power to be revealed-not only to us, but to those watching around us.

Notice also that God’s goal wasn’t just to punish Pharaoh; it was to make His name known “in all the earth.” Judgment was real, but so was mercy-the plagues were warnings, opportunities for Pharaoh to repent. And while Pharaoh’s pride hardened his heart, God’s purpose of redemption continued moving forward. His justice exposes rebellion, but His mercy keeps extending an invitation to surrender.

So how do we respond when faced with “Pharaohs” in our lives-whether it’s opposition at work, spiritual battles, or personal struggles? We remember that God is still sovereign. He can turn even resistance into revelation. His justice ensures evil doesn’t win, and His mercy ensures His purpose of redemption never fails. What the enemy means for harm, God uses for glory.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that even in the face of resistance, Your justice and mercy are at work. Teach me to trust that nothing is wasted and that even my struggles can be a platform for Your glory. Help me to rest in Your sovereignty, knowing You are always weaving redemption into my story. In Jesus’ name, amen.
