I am God’s Vessel

18 When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then you also blow the trumpets on every side of the whole camp, and say, ‘The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!’

Judges 7:18 (NKJV)

When God created man, one of the mandates of man is that He replenishes the earth, and the only way to do that is by being fruitful. This fruitfulness comes by putting to work all that is inside of man, and maximising the presence of God in our life. Now, we concluded yesterday that there is God’s part to play, but there is also man’s part to play in the fulfillment of the promises of God. 

We see this take effect in the life of Gideon. God promised victory, and Gideon took action. Therefore, it is our work with God that brings the victory. This is why the Scriptures call us co-workers with God. This is the backend behind the word we see in Judges 7:18 saying “The sword of the Lord and of Gideon” 

Prior to this statement, Gideon had a dream in vs 14 where he heard “the sword of Gideon the son of Joash”. But waking up from the dream and marching into battle, he instructs the people to say,”The Sword of the Lord and of Gideon”, and that order was very important because it is first the Lord who gives the victory, we are vessels that enact that victory. Therefore, God gives the victory, and you are the vessel through which that victory is visible.

Why are we saying all this? As we journey with God from time to time, we grow to the point where we begin to understand that we have become the vessel through which the plans of God are carried out on the earth. We become the vessel to achieve the will of God, and this requires our will. God will not use us without our consent. He wants to co-work with us to the point where people can say, ”This is the sword of the Lord” through you.

PRAYER

Father, I know there is so much you want to do through me. I am willing, and I present myself as a vessel before you. Work through me to achieve your will.
