I AM Is With You

“And God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.’ And He said, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, “I AM has sent me to you.”’” – Exodus 3:14 (NKJV)

When God called Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt, Moses immediately wrestled with doubt: “Who am I that I should go?” Like many of us, he looked at his weaknesses, his past failures, and his inadequacy. But instead of answering with Moses’ résumé, God revealed His own identity: “I AM WHO I AM.” In other words, Moses’ confidence was not to be found in himself but in the presence of the unchanging, all-sufficient God who was sending him.

This is where we often stumble. We measure ourselves against the task ahead and feel overwhelmed. Maybe you’ve asked questions like: “Am I really capable? Do I have what it takes? What if I fail?” But the truth is, your assignment was never about your sufficiency-it’s about God’s. The “I AM” who never changes is with you, and His presence is your qualification. Where you feel weak, He is strong; where you feel empty, He is enough.

Notice that God didn’t give Moses a long list of credentials; He simply said, “I AM.” That’s because His presence covers every gap. Need wisdom? He is wisdom. Need strength? He is strength. Need peace? He is peace. Whatever the calling requires, God Himself is the answer. And when you step into obedience, you don’t go alone; the great I AM walks with you.

So the next time doubt whispers, “Who am I?” let God’s answer steady your heart: “I AM is with you.” Just like Moses, you’re not sent in your own name but in His. And if He has called you, He will surely equip you.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for reminding me that I don’t have to depend on my own strength or qualifications. You are the great I AM, and your presence is more than enough for every assignment. Help me to trust your sufficiency when I feel weak and to step forward in faith because I know you are with me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
