Waiting can be one of the hardest things to do, especially when we’re eager for answers or change. The Israelites experienced this first hand at Mount Sinai. God’s glory descended on the mountain in a cloud, and Moses went up to meet Him. But for six long days, Moses waited in silence while the cloud covered the mountain. It wasn’t until the seventh day that God called out to him. Imagine the anticipation and uncertainty during those six days—yet Moses waited patiently, trusting in God’s perfect timing.
Patience is rarely easy. In our fast-paced world, we’re often conditioned to expect immediate results. When answers don’t come as quickly as we’d like, frustration can creep in. But God’s timing is always intentional. The six days of silence before God spoke to Moses weren’t wasted. They were a time of preparation and trust. In the same way, the delays in our lives may be God’s way of preparing us for what’s ahead or aligning circumstances in ways we can’t yet see.
Think about a time when you had to wait on God. Maybe it was for a breakthrough, a relationship, or a dream you’ve been nurturing. How did you handle the waiting? Did you grow frustrated, or did you use the time to draw closer to Him? Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that “those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” Waiting isn’t just about sitting still; it’s about active trust, believing that God’s timing is better than ours.
Today, if you find yourself in a season of waiting, be encouraged by Moses’ example. The silence doesn’t mean God is absent; it often means He is working behind the scenes in ways you can’t yet see. Trust that His timing is perfect and that His plans for you are good. While you wait, lean into His presence, strengthen your faith, and prepare your heart for the moment He calls you forward.

Lord, I confess that waiting is hard for me. Help me to trust in your timing, knowing that your plans are always perfect. Teach me to be patient and to use seasons of waiting to grow closer to you. Thank you for working behind the scenes, even when I can’t see it. I place my hopes and desires in your hands, trusting that you will lead me in your perfect way. Amen.
