Living Above Fear

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

Have you ever wondered why fear often feels like a heavy chain that keeps us from moving forward? It whispers lies, magnifies obstacles, and robs us of joy. But here’s a truth you need to hold onto: fear is not from God. The first time fear is mentioned in the Bible is in Genesis 3, right after Adam and Eve disobeyed God. That fear came as a consequence of sin, a byproduct of corruption entering the world. God didn’t design you to live bound by fear. Fear is a weapon of the enemy, but through Jesus, you have victory over it.

Think about it: fear keeps us from walking in the fullness of God’s promises. Yet, God, who holds all power, says, “Fear not, I will help you” (Isaiah 41:13). When fear shows up, it’s a signal to remind ourselves that we are not alone. You don’t have to fight fear in your strength because God has already overcome the world. He has equipped you with power, love, and a sound mind—tools to stand firm against the enemy’s schemes.

What fears have been weighing you down lately? Is it fear of failure, rejection, or the unknown? Take a moment to identify them and then surrender them to God. Remember, fear is a liar. It cannot stand where truth abides. Jesus, through His sacrifice, made a way for you to live free from fear. He has broken the chain of corruption that started with Adam and replaced it with the victory of life in Him.

Today, choose to believe what God says about you over the lies of fear. Trust in His promise to hold your hand and help you. Walk boldly, knowing that the One who created the universe goes before you, stands beside you, and has your back.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for reminding me that fear is not from you. I surrender every fear I’ve been holding onto, and I choose to trust in your promise to help me. Give me the courage to stand in the power, love, and sound mind you’ve given me. Help me to fix my eyes on you when fear tries to creep in. Thank you for holding my hand and walking with me.
