Ezekiel 22:30 (NKJV) “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.”

There are moments in Scripture that feel heavy. This is one of them.

God was looking for someone. Not a crowd. Not a committee. A person. Someone willing to stand in the gap.

To stand in the gap is to position yourself between judgment and mercy. It is to intercede for people who may not even know they need prayer. It is to carry responsibility for what is breaking down around you.

A gap forms when righteousness declines, when leadership falters, when families fracture, when nations drift. And instead of only criticizing the gap, God looks for someone who will stand in it.

Intercession is costly. It requires compassion. It requires consistency. It requires courage. But it also carries incredible influence.

One person praying can hold back destruction. One person praying can shift outcomes. One person praying can invite mercy where justice seemed certain.

The tragedy in Ezekiel was not just the condition of the land. It was that no one stepped forward.

Do not underestimate the power of your prayer life. Your family may depend on it. Your church may depend on it. Your community may depend on it.

When you sense spiritual decline, do not retreat. Step into the gap. Lift your voice. Appeal to the mercy of God.

Because when someone stands in the gap, something changes.

Pray until something happens, and be willing to be the one who stands.

Prayer

Lord, make me an intercessor. Give me the courage to stand in the gap for others. Burden my heart for my family, my church, and my nation. Help me not to be passive when I see spiritual need. Use my prayers to invite mercy and transformation. I choose to stand before you on behalf of others. Amen.
