No Excuses, Just Obedience

“Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.” – Exodus 4:12 (NKJV)

Moses had a list of excuses ready when God called him: “I’m not eloquent. I’m slow of speech. Please send someone else.” Isn’t that often our story too? When God nudges us to step into something greater, our first instinct is to look at our limitations. But God wasn’t interested in Moses’ excuses-He was interested in his obedience. He reminded Moses that He Himself would be with his mouth and teach him what to say. The message is clear: it’s not about your ability; it’s about God’s presence.

How many times have you felt unqualified for what God has placed before you? Maybe it’s sharing your testimony, leading a group, starting a business, or simply taking a step of faith in a new direction. Our natural response is to focus on what we can’t do, but God calls us to shift our eyes to what He can do through us. Our weaknesses aren’t disqualifiers-they are opportunities for His strength to shine.

God wasn’t asking Moses to be perfect; He was asking him to trust. In the same way, He doesn’t expect you to have it all together before obeying Him. He provides the words, the courage, and the resources you need along the way. Excuses delay destiny, but obedience activates it. Moses didn’t feel ready, but once he yielded, God used him to bring down empires and deliver a nation.

So, what excuses have been holding you back? Fear of failure? Lack of confidence? Past mistakes? God is saying the same words to you today: “Go, and I will be with you.” When the great I AM goes with you, there are no valid excuses left-only the invitation to obey and watch His power work through your weakness.

Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for the excuses I’ve used to avoid your call. Help me to see that my weaknesses are not barriers but vessels for your strength. Teach me to trust your presence and step forward in obedience, knowing you will supply everything I need. In Jesus’ name, amen.
