Pressing Deeper into God’s Encounter (Commission)

Verse of Focus:
So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.

Exodus 3:10

This concludes our conversation on God’s encounter. We began by establishing that these encounters introduce us to a dimension of God’s government, and our response is crucial. We saw a good example in Moses, when he pressed deeper into the encounter, he not only heard God’s voice, but also received a demand for consecration on him and after that, He then revealed Himself as the ‘I AM’. What happens next after revelation is commissioning.

In revelation, we receive a message (a unique understanding of God). But only when God bids us go do we receive the backing and resources of heaven to represent Him, guided by the revelation we have received. He said to Moses  “…Go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” (‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬).

There is great danger when God hasn’t commanded a man to go and he goes anyway. In the future, even Moses himself experienced this when he struck the rock disobeying God’s specific instructions. As a consequence, he wasn’t allowed to lead the Israelites to the Promised Land.

There are a few reasons why people often miss the commissioning of God, but ignorance, assumption and pride are the major reasons. Sometimes, we’re genuinely unsure if God is leading us. Other times, we jump to conclusions, assuming certain signals are divine guidance. In the worst case, we presume to know God’s will and act on it without seeking confirmation. No matter which stage you’re in, God is always willing to help and guide you back to the path He has designed. All you need to do is come to Him humbly in prayer, and He will surely lead you.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for your interest in my life and for revealing yourself to me. Please, help me to know with certainty where you are commissioning me so that I may work in my field and not another’s
