Remember What He Did

 “So you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this same day I will have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as an everlasting ordinance.” – Exodus 12:17 (NKJV)

God didn’t want Israel to ever forget the night of their deliverance. He commanded them to celebrate the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread year after year so that each generation would remember how He brought them out of slavery. Why? Because remembering fuels faith. Forgetfulness leads to drifting, but remembrance anchors us in God’s grace and keeps His goodness fresh in our hearts.

We too are called to remember. For us, the ultimate Passover is the cross. Jesus, our Passover Lamb, shed His blood to deliver us from sin and death. That’s why He told His disciples, “Do this in remembrance of Me.” Every time we take communion, every time we reflect on His sacrifice, we are choosing to keep the story alive in our hearts and to pass it on to others. We remember not just what He did for Israel, but what He has done for us personally.

Life has a way of making us forget. Bills pile up, challenges press in, and the rush of routines can drown out gratitude. That’s why intentional remembrance is vital. Whether it’s through communion, journaling testimonies, or telling your children about God’s faithfulness, we must continually bring His works to mind. Remembering guards us from despair in hard times and keeps us humble in good times.

So ask yourself: how do I keep God’s grace before me daily? Maybe it’s by starting your mornings with thanksgiving, ending your nights by recounting His blessings, or sharing your story with someone who needs encouragement. Don’t let the memory of His deliverance fade. Remember what He did-and let that remembrance shape how you live today.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of remembrance. Help me to never forget the sacrifice of Jesus, my Passover Lamb. Teach me to live each day mindful of Your grace and eager to share Your goodness with others. May my life be a continual testimony that I have been delivered and redeemed by You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
