My Friend & I

Simultaneous Equation From the Scripture

MY FRIEND: Can you explain simultaneous equation to me?

ME : Well, why not? The simultaneous equation is when you solve two or more equation simultaneously.

MY FRIEND: See your life, simple mathematics you don’t know. It’s only Bible that you know

ME: Well, guilty as charged. But what if I use the Bible to explain simultaneous equation to you.

MY FRIEND: Stop playing with me na. How is that even possible?

ME: Well, let’s think about the work of Jesus in reconciliation of man to God

MY FRIEND: What has that got to do with mathematics?

ME: Well, there were two problems before the arrival of Jesus: 1. Jews were not reconciled with Gentiles (equation 1) 2. Both Jews and Gentiles needed to be reconciled to God (equation 2)

MY FRIEND: Hmmmn. So what did God do?

ME: He used the Almighty Formula.

MY FRIEND: Almighty Formula? I thought that only works for Quadratic equation.

ME: Wrong! That formula is called quadratic equation formula. Almighty is just a borrowed name.

MY FRIEND: So, how was this original almighty formula deployed?

ME: Ephesians 2:14-16 “For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility”

MY FRIEND: So, Jesus reconciled the Jews to the gentile by setting aside the law that separates them and then through his death reconciled both the Jews and the Gentiles to God?

ME: Correct!

MY FRIEND: What a fantastic simultaneous equation!

ME: Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. (Ephesians 2:19‭-‬22 NIV)
