“Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.’” – Exodus 6:6 (NKJV)
After Pharaoh hardened his heart and the Israelites’ suffering increased, Moses felt discouraged. But God didn’t change His mind. Instead, He reminded Moses of His covenant promise: “I will redeem you.” That word redeem means to buy back, to rescue at a cost, to free the enslaved. God wanted His people to know that He was not only aware of their pain but also committed to their freedom. He is the God who redeems, and nothing-not even Pharaoh’s power-could stop His plan.
Like the Israelites, we often need to be reminded of this truth when life feels overwhelming. Redemption isn’t just a Bible word-it’s God’s heart toward His people. He rescues us from sin, from shame, from fear, and from everything that holds us captive. And just as He stretched out His arm against Pharaoh, He stretched out His arms on the cross to redeem us once and for all.
It’s easy to forget this when we’re in the middle of struggle. Sometimes we’re so focused on our burdens that we lose sight of the Redeemer who promises deliverance. But God’s redemption is not just about taking us out of something-it’s also about bringing us into something better. Israel wasn’t just freed from Egypt; they were being led into a land flowing with milk and honey. Likewise, God isn’t only breaking your chains-He’s leading you into purpose, joy, and abundance in Him.
So, where do you need redemption today? Maybe it’s from fear, from addiction, from guilt, or from discouragement. Lift your eyes to the One who keeps His promises. He is still the God who redeems, and He has already declared, “I will bring you out.”

Lord, thank You for being the God who redeems. Remind me of Your promises when I feel weighed down by life’s burdens. Help me trust that You are not only freeing me from what holds me captive but also leading me into the fullness of Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, amen.
