The Hand of the Lord Was With Him

Ezra 7:6 (NIV)
“This Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him.”

Ezra was a gifted man-a skilled teacher, a respected leader, and a devoted student of God’s Word. But what truly marked his life wasn’t just his talent or intellect. It was the invisible but undeniable hand of God upon him. His success, favor with the king, and fruitful mission all flowed from one source: God’s presence and power working behind the scenes.

We live in a culture that loves to celebrate skill. Degrees, resumes, and accomplishments take center stage. But Ezra’s story reminds us that it’s not just about what’s in your hand-it’s about whose hand is on you. God’s favor can open doors that your resume can’t. His presence can position you for opportunities no networking could arrange. When you walk in step with His purpose, divine backing follows.

Have you ever experienced moments when things just seemed to “click”? A provision came unexpectedly, a conversation opened a door, or peace filled your heart in a season of transition? That’s the hand of God at work. And sometimes, it’s not in the big, miraculous events-it’s in the quiet moments of grace, where strength, wisdom, and direction show up right when you need them.

So instead of striving for control or chasing applause, seek God’s hand on your life. Like Ezra, commit to His Word, walk in His ways, and trust that when you’re aligned with His purpose, His favor will follow you wherever you go.

Prayer:
Lord, I don’t want to rely on my own strength or skills. I want your hand on my life. Guide me, favor me, and let your presence go before me in every step I take. Like Ezra, help me to walk in purpose and trust that you’re working behind the scenes for your glory.
