Psalm 27:14 (NIV)
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord“
Waiting is hard. Whether it’s waiting in traffic, waiting for a job opportunity, or waiting for a prayer to be answered, our natural instinct is to want things now. But the psalmist’s words in Psalm 27:14 gently nudge us to do something countercultural-to wait on the Lord. Not because God is slow or indifferent, but because in the waiting, He is doing something deeper in us.
Have you ever noticed how waiting rooms at the doctor’s office can make you feel helpless? You check your watch, glance at the door, pace the floor-but the doctor comes only when it’s time. In the same way, God doesn’t operate on our schedule. Yet He’s never late. When He says “wait,” it’s not a divine brush-off; it’s an invitation to grow. God’s delays are not His denials-they are divine pauses that prepare our hearts, realign our focus, and stretch our trust in Him.
David, the writer of this psalm, knew what it meant to wait. Anointed as king while still a shepherd boy, he spent years running from Saul, living in caves, and clinging to promises that looked nothing like his present reality. Yet through it all, he learned this truth: waiting is not wasted time when it’s spent trusting in God. In fact, it’s in the waiting that our hearts are strengthened. It’s where we learn endurance, develop character, and deepen our dependence on Him.
So, what are you waiting on today? Healing? Direction? A breakthrough? As you wait, don’t let frustration take the wheel. Let God teach you the beauty of stillness and the strength that rises when we trust Him completely. He may be silent for a season, but He is never absent. And when the time is right, He will act-because He’s a faithful Father who never forgets His children.

Lord, waiting isn’t easy, and sometimes my heart grows weary in the process. But today, I choose to trust your timing. Strengthen my heart, teach me patience, and help me see this season not as a delay but as a divine opportunity. I know you’re working even when I can’t see it, and I choose to wait in hope.
