Have you ever felt like Moses—so weighed down by responsibilities that you didn’t know how you could keep going? Life can sometimes feel like a never-ending list of tasks, and when everyone seems to rely on you, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. That’s exactly where Moses found himself. He was managing the disputes, needs, and problems of an entire nation, and his father-in-law, Jethro, saw that it was too much for one person to handle. Jethro’s advice to delegate was life-changing for Moses—and it can be for you too.
Maybe you’re trying to do it all: managing work, family, friendships, church commitments, and everything in between. When we take on too much, it’s only a matter of time before exhaustion sets in. God doesn’t want you to carry your burdens alone. He has placed people around you to help, just as Jethro stepped in for Moses. Leaning on others isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s wisdom.
It’s also essential to ask God for help. When you feel stressed, remember that the Holy Spirit is your Helper (John 14:26). Take time to pray and ask for guidance. God can show you which tasks to prioritize, how to set healthy boundaries, and who to ask for support. He may also give you peace in the midst of your responsibilities, reminding you that He is ultimately in control.
You don’t have to do it all. Delegate what you can, take care of yourself physically, and let God guide you through the rest. Trust that He will provide the wisdom, strength, and help you need. Just as Moses learned to share the load, you can step back from trying to do everything on your own and allow others—and God—to step in.
Prayer:
Father, I admit that I sometimes take on more than I can handle. Thank you for reminding me that I don’t have to do it all. Help me to recognize when it’s time to ask for help and show me the people you’ve placed in my life to share the load. Teach me to trust you with my responsibilities and to rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance. I give you my stress and my worries, knowing that you care for me and will lead me in the way I should go. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
