“Then Queen Esther, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew gave full written authority, confirming this second letter about Purim.” — Esther 9:29 (ESV)
Even after everything, Esther added her authority to the record.
Mordecai had sent the first letter. Esther and Mordecai together sent the second. The queen whose identity had been concealed for years, the woman who had spoken her name and her people into the most dangerous moment of her life, now put her name in writing as the authority behind the observance that would commemorate the rescue. The secret was not just revealed in one room for one purpose. It became part of the permanent record of her people’s history.
There is a moment in every story of divine rescue where the one who was hidden becomes the one who is named. Where the person who carried their identity in secret becomes the person whose name is attached to the victory. Esther went from a woman with a concealed identity in a foreign palace to the named co-author of an edict that established a lasting observance for her entire people.
This arc is deeply personal. Many of us are still in the season of concealment, carrying an identity, a calling, a gift, or a truth about who we are that has not yet been fully public. The concealment serves a purpose in its season. But the story of Esther does not end with concealment. It ends with her name on the letter. The hidden thing, in God’s timing, becomes the declared thing.
Notice that when the time came for her name to go on the document, there was no ceremony or announcement. She simply added her authority to what was already being established. The revelation of identity was not a performance. It was a natural consequence of the work she had been doing.
Today, if you are in the season of carrying something in silence, hold on to Esther’s arc. The concealment is not the destination. The name on the letter is where you are headed.
Prayer
Father, I trust the arc. What I carry in silence right now has a moment where my name goes on the letter. I release the timing to you. When the season of concealment is over, let the declaration be natural and clear. In Jesus’ name, amen.
