Step 3: Be Persuaded in God’s Ability and Willingness

 “Being fully persuaded that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” – Romans 4:21

In your faith journey, it is crucial to settle one thing in your heart: God is fully capable and willing to fulfill His promises. Think about this: How can the Almighty God, the Creator of heaven and earth, give you a promise and not have the ability to bring it to pass? Don’t let human limitations or past disappointments with people’s broken promises affect how you relate to God. God is not like man, and he is always faithful to His Word.

In Romans 4:21, we see three important words—Promise, Perform, and Persuaded—that reveal the roles each party plays in the faith journey. God is the giver of the promise. you can’t create your own promises; they come from Him. And because he is the promise-giver, he is also the one responsible for performing the promise. The only requirement on your part is to be persuaded in His ability and willingness to fulfill what he has said. As Jeremiah 1:12 says, “I am watching my word to perform it.” God will perform His Word, but you must stand firm on it, trusting Him completely.

Abraham was fully persuaded that what God promised, he was able to perform. This persuasion was key to his faith journey, and it must be key to yours as well. If you are not yet fully persuaded, then don’t approach prayer. Many people go for prayer without truly being persuaded in their hearts. They might ask for prayer, but if they are not convinced that God can and will answer, the result may be delayed.

What you should be doing is preparing yourself by persuading your heart in God’s Word before the time of prayer. Sometimes, hearing testimonies from others is God’s way of persuading your heart. The quicker you can convince yourself of God’s ability and willingness, the quicker you will see the results. When you are fully persuaded, your faith becomes active and effective.

Prayer:
Lord, I thank you for your faithfulness and for the promises you’ve given me. help me to be fully persuaded in your ability and willingness to fulfill your Word in my life. I reject doubt and fear, and I choose to stand firm on your promises. Teach me to trust you completely and to prepare my heart before I come to you in prayer. I believe that what you have promised, you are able to perform. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
