Step Boldly in Faith

So Joshua ordered the officers of the people: ‘Go through the camp and tell the people, “Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.

Joshua 1:10-11

After years of wandering and waiting, the moment had finally come for Israel to step into the Promised Land. They had lingered on the eastern side of the Jordan River, hesitant and uncertain, but now Joshua’s call demanded radical faith and immediate action. The command to prepare and move forward within three days was a decisive moment that required courage and trust in God.

The faith Joshua called for was not passive but active. It required the Israelites to prepare their provisions and be ready to move forward, despite the challenges and unknowns ahead. This call to action was a stark contrast to their ancestors, who had let fear and doubt turn them back into the wilderness. Joshua’s leadership exemplified that faith in God enables us to face challenges with confidence and urgency.

As believers today, we are often confronted with situations that seem intimidating and overwhelming. Yet, if we place our faith in God, we can accomplish what others fear to do. Our faith empowers us to take bold steps, trusting that God is with us and will provide the victory.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I thank you for your steadfast faithfulness and the courage you instill in my heart. Help me to trust you completely and to step forward in faith, even when faced with daunting challenges. Give me the strength to prepare and act with urgency, just as Joshua led the Israelites. May I not be swayed by fear or doubt but be emboldened by the knowledge that you are with me. Empower me to do what others might be afraid to do, knowing that my faith in you will lead to victory.
